I was on my way home from Weight Watchers this morning and I heard the theme for the movie Halloween on the radio. Perfect for Oct, right? When that movie came out, it scared the dickens out of me. Now that I'm a few years older, I don't watch many scary movies. There is enough scary stuff on the news!
So my question of the day is, what is/was your favorite scary movie?
The drawing is going through Friday, so I'm still collecting names for books and the Kindle!

Blogging for Ann Bonvallet: It's the Werewolf movie! scared the wits out of my little brother!
ReplyDeleteThe scariest one for me was Dracula! I also always enjoyed Dark Shadows when it was a soap opera on TV. It was about Vampires also!
ReplyDeleteWerewolves are creepy. It's hard to believe that they are romantic heroes in romances now!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby likes Dark Shadows, too.
"The Exorcist" is my favorite. I also like the cheesy ones like the Friday the 13 movies.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger, it was the Nightmare on Elm St movies. More recently, I loved the Saw movies.
ReplyDeleteI love 80s and 90s horror movies. They are way better than the modern ones which seem more scary than gory.
ReplyDeleteInterview with a Vampire
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Friday the 13th
Poltergeist
Candyman
I may have to watch a few of these soon for old times sake.
Hmm I meant to say they seem more "gory than scary." You have a wonderful blog Cheryl and I enjoyed reading all the posts. Have a great night.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Friday the 13th movies. So OTT. I also loved the old B&W Christopher Lee Dracula movies.
ReplyDeleteLiked Nightmare on Elm Street as well, didn't find it scary really but that song stayed with me for a long time.
Congratulations on your new book! I think Silence of the Lambs is my favorite scary movie but I don't watch many of them.

Congrats on the new book coming out!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I'm old enough to have seen The Exorcist when it came out in theaters. Went with my brother and his best friend and we all slept with the lights on for weeks after that!
I'm a big fan of Stephen King so The Shining and Pet Cemetery are high on my list.
And the original Halloween is still the best to me. Nobody screams like Jamie Lee Curtis.
Psycho still scares me. I had a college roommate who made me sit in our room with the bathroom door open when she took a shower so Norman Bates wouldn't get her.
Of the newer films I like Scream. It scares me because there is nothing paranormal or supernatural about it. Real lunatics scare me to death!

I've never been to any reallllly scary movies because I know that I'll be a basket case forever after... But our local university auditorium shows an old silent scary [more campy than scary these days] movie on Halloween! Dracula & Frankenstein have been recent ones... complete with pipe organ music .. it's wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! I've been knocked out by a cold this week, so I'm a bit behind!
ReplyDeleteYou all have great movie choices! I like the older movies that relied a lot on heavy psych build-up rather than just a killer running around with an ax. I remember seeing The Blob as a kid and being scared of that big glop of goo!
I'm not much of a horror movie fan but i have watched some epic horrors and my favorite is 'The Exorcist'
ReplyDeleteHalloween was a scary movie for me along with Nightmare On Elm Street and Night Of The Living Dead.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any scary movies lately but I remember Christine, Cujo and Carrie.
ReplyDeleteI used to love scary movies and then I watched The Ring and I have yet to watch another scary movie since! Something about The Ring just freaked me out for life I guess. I shudder thinking about it, lol!
ReplyDeleteAs I get older, I'm not much a fan of scary movies, although, I watched the Scream series with my girls.
ReplyDeleteI'm signing out tonight. The name I drew was from the Romance Bandits site, but everyone is in the hat for the Kindle tomorrow. Good luck!
My dog decided to tease me one day. I was studying and she'd bark to come in. I'd open the door and she's run around the corner. Until someone else opened the door. Then she came in.
ReplyDeleteMine was Halloween also. I remember needing the hallway light left on and trying to fall asleep with my back pressed up against my sisters back. :)
ReplyDeleteHalloween was creepy-spooky!
ReplyDeleteCats are the ones who look out the window, twitching their tails, like they see something scary, and freak me out! I'm sure an ax-murderer is standing just outside!
The Kindle winner is Sara Watts! She won books this week, too! Thanks everyone for playing! You all are great!
